We have many different kinds of appointments at the surgery, which may be with a GP, Nurse Consultant, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse, Pharmacist, Health Care Assistant or Phlebotomist.
This means that it is really important that the right kind of appointment with the right person is made for you.
If you need an appointment at the surgery there are a number of ways you can do this:
- Online - via Patient Online Services (POS)
- Telephone - you can telephone the surgery on 01983 758998 and press option 1 to make an appointment
- In person - you can visit reception at either Brookside Health Centre or our Yarmouth Surgery to make an appointment.
If you need an appointment the same day you will be asked by the receptionist for a brief indication of the reason you need to see a clinician. This is so that you can be seen by the most appropriate Clinician on our daily Urgent Care Team. The receptionist does not need to know all the details, just a couple of words. This information will be put on your appointment so that the Clinician has a brief idea of why you need to be seen.
If you don’t need an appointment urgently you will be offered a future dated appointment with an appropriate Clinician as they are available.
Alternatively if you don’t need an appointment you can request a telephone call from one of our clinicians, depending on the matter.
If you have made an appointment you need to arrive a short time before it is due to start. If you are late for your appointment you may have to make another appointment as the Clinician will usually have other patients to see etc.
If you are unable to keep an appointment it is very important that you contact us to CANCEL your booked appointment. This means that the clinicians’ time is not wasted and another patient will be able to use that appointment time. You can cancel an appointment by telephone or in person, or if you have booked an appointment online you will be able to cancel it online.
Brookside Health Centre offers appointments for patients on Monday and Thursday evenings. These are usually with our ANPs and can be booked in advance.
Patient Online Services (POS)
If you have not already registered for this service please fill in a short form in reception. You will need to bring two forms of ID - one has to have your photo (passport/driving licence) and the other has to have your current address (utility bill/bank statement etc less than 3 months old). You can access an increasing number of appointments with our nurses, phlebotomist, advanced nurse practitioners and health care assistants through the POS.
We will also be introducing a number of pre-bookable GP appointments online in due course. Through POS you can also request repeat medication, view your medical record and check for recent test results.
