HOW DO I...
MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

Our system is designed with the aim of providing Doctors' appointments with a minimum of delay. No appointments to see the Doctor will be made by the Receptionists. This will be done when the Doctor telephones you.

We ask that you contact the Surgery either by telephone or walking in to the Surgery between 8.30am and 6.00pm (Monday to Friday). The Receptionist will take your telephone number where you can be contacted by the Doctor within a range of times suitable to you. Please advise the Receptionist if the problem is urgent or if you have a disability that prohibits you from using the telephone.

It may be appropriate for advice to be given by the Doctor over the phone or for you to see another healthcare professional or have necessary tests before being seen by the Doctor to make the entire procedure more effective. If an appointment is needed this will be agreed by yourself and the doctor. We aim to see you within 48 hours or at another time suitable to you.

Obviously there are times when your doctor may be away from the Surgery or on holiday. If you agree that the matter is not urgent you are asked to contact the Surgery as above on his/her return.

If the matter cannot wait until your own Doctor is available you will be contacted by another doctor or be given an appointment with our Nurse Practitioner, who deals with minor illnesses and can prescribe.

Extended Access

Brookside Health Centre offers extended access to appointments for patients on some early mornings and evenings. We also offer consultations on some Saturday mornings. These are arranged with your Doctor.

HOW DO I...
OBTAIN A HOME VISIT?

Should you need a home visit due to illness or infirmity, telephone 0844 815 1428. It helps doctors plan efficiently if you make your requests before 10.00am, giving some indication of urgency.
